COO celebrates excellence at Orgs’ Night 2023

With the theme, “Regalia: A Glimpse through Mapúan Noble Leadership,” the Mapúa University (MU) Council of Organizations (COO) reignited a university tradition of a night dedicated to recognizing student leaders and campus organizations by hosting this year’s Organizations’ Night of Excellence (ONE) as part of the University Week 2023 celebration, last May 27, held at the Intramuros Campus’ Gymnasium.


Starting the evening, Alumni and Student Engagement Office Head Mr. Oliver Ryan B. Custodio highlighted the importance of student organizations that play a significant role in the University “in terms of promoting different skills, interests, creativity, and nurturing the talents of our students.”


“We hope that we can continue to partner with you in creating various activities that will promote the interests of our students,”Mr. Custodio added.

The Presentation of Awards then started with the Top 10 Performing Organizations for Intramuros and Makati campuses. The Intramuros category of the award was headlined by the Honor Society of Mapúa (HSM), placing first amongst all organizations on the main campus. Meanwhile, the Information System – Next Gen from the School of Information and Technology (SOIT) was crowned the top-performing organization for Makati.


After that, the Group Special Awards category was given shortly with HSM again demonstrating their excellence by winning the Most Active Organization in Intramuros. The premier student organization also bagged the Most Congenial Award for Intramuros. The Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (JPIA) stood out in Makati, securing the Most Active Organization, while the Mapúa Junior Marketing Association won the Most Congenial Organization for Makati.


The event proceeded with the final list of awardees; the Individual Awards category dedicated to COO-specific accolades given to the most deserving organizations. HSM’s Charles Brent Santos bagged the award for being the Most Active COO Representative for Intramuros-based organizations. For its Makati and Senior High School (SHS) counterpart, the Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants – Mapúa’s Patricia Ann Robles and the English Club – Intramuros’ Ianford Fadriquela received the same award, respectively. Subsequently, the award for the Most Active Organization President was given to each campus and SHS delegate, with the Philippine Society of Sanitary Engineers – Mapúa University Student Chapter receiving the award for Intramuros; Tekno Teatro for Makati, and the Makati Sports Club for SHS. Furthermore, the COO’s Choice Award for Best COO Representative went to Edwin C. Mira from Every Nation Campus Mapúa.


Mapúan dance groups XDC and Nexus, as well as student performer Jade Santos, also graced the event with their thrilling performances. Aside from this, the COO also held icebreaker games to entertain the audience. To conclude the momentous occasion, closing remarks were given by current COO President Kae R. Santos. During his speech, Santos extended his utmost gratitude to the organizations and further inspired the student leaders towards the path of leadership and excellence.
