Mapúa University’s Admissions Office hosted an online orientation series called Mapúa Meets for new senior high school and college enrollees, along with their parents and guardians via Zoom.
Conducted from June 8 to 11, four sessions comprised the first leg of Mapúa Meets, namely: Taking the Next Step, Starting the Mapúa Journey, Mapúa Education Begins Here, and Online Learning in the New Normal. The series then continued with its second leg for an overview of the university’s schools and departments, activities, and financial assistance programs last July 6 to 13. There was also a discussion on Mapúa’s developing online platform as well as its advantages.
Another round of Mapúa Meets was organized two days later for the incoming freshmen who missed the first batch of orientations.
The orientation series had an average of 87% attendance from registrants and garnered an overwhelming number of questions from the attendees of each session.
Dr. Dionisia M. Lanuza, the Dean of Admissions and Scholarships, wanted to operate under conditions that continuously ensure an environment that is conducive to learning. Hence, through this series of webinars, she hoped for the students to be familiar and adjusted to the new normal in terms of the education sector. Even with the pandemic, Lanuza firmly stated that “education must continue.”
To further initiate the new Mapúans, an online training program called Cardinal EDGE Bootcamp was held from July 22 until 24 for the new students to familiarize themselves with the university’s digital tools and resources.
