Out of 2,092 universities from 115 countries and regions, Mapúa University (MU) remained true to its vision as a global leader in education and maintained its spot in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE-WUR) 2025 for the third year in a row after placing in the 1501+ bracket.
WUR 2025 rankings are based on 18 indicators to evaluate the universities in the following areas: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry engagement, and international outlook. As for the results, the methodology was based on 157 million citations, 18 million research publications, and survey responses from more than 93,000 scholars.
With an overall score of 10.5–25.1, MU ranked second in research environment (14.4), fourth in industry (21.1) and in research quality (31.1), and sixth in teaching (13.0) and international outlook (21.3).
This year, 21 Philippine universities joined the list. Ateneo de Manila University ranked first, followed by the University of the Philippines in second place. Meanwhile, MU is jointly ranked with the University of Santo Tomas, De La Salle University, and Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology, while the others obtained Reporter status.
